Active Living offers some exciting volunteering opportunities

Volunteering is an essential part of the Somerset Active Living Network and we acknowledge the valuable contribution Volunteers make.

Here are some of the kinds of opportunities available:

 

 

 

 Role Title:    Active Living Centre Helper  
 Commitment:  Up to 7 hours weekly (usually one day a week)
 Requirements:    To support older people in Active Living Centres. Helping to make them feel welcome, comfortable and supporting them to enjoy a range of Active Living opportunities.  Working as part of a team of volunteers supporting the day-to-day running of an Active Living Centre.
 
 Training:            We can arrange for you to access a basic First Aid & Food Hygiene course

 

   
 Role Title:    Organiser – Active Living Centre
 Commitment:  Weekly (usually one day a week)
 Requirements:   

To support older people in Active Living Centres. Helping to make them feel welcome, comfortable  and supporting them to enjoy a range of Active Living opportunities.  

 

As an organiser you will have a key role in co-ordinating activity, keeping records, supporting a team of volunteers and for ensuring the smooth running of a group – An exciting challenge for someone with good organising skills

 Training:            We can arrange for you to access a basic First Aid & Food Hygiene course


   
 Role Title:    Driver – Active Living Centre
 Commitment:  Up to 7 hours weekly
 Requirements:   

To transport older people to and from Active Living events, usually one day a week for a couple of hours.  You will need to have access to a vehicle which is accessible to an older person such as a four door car, you will need to have fully comprehensive insurance cover with business  usage (there is usually no additional cost to add this to your policy) You will need to be sensitive to the needs of older people and ensure they are safely escorted from door to door. 

 Training:            We will arrange for you to attend a driver safety and awareness course for volunteer drivers.
Reimbursement: Reimbursement of expenses  - As a volunteer driver you will receive expenses of 45p per mile.
